Other highlights during Smith’s set would definitely include his performance of “Money On My Mind,” “Midnight Train,” and “Too Good at Goodbyes.” His 21-song setlist was definitely pleasing to every fan in attendance, showcasing sadness within song, but spreading love and equality between songs with Smith’s speeches. The night ended with a three-song encore of “Palace,” which he co-wrote with country singer CAM, his smash hit “Stay With Me,” and finishing with “Pray” before taking the seat he used to rise onto the top of the stage to return below.ĬAM opened up the show with a unfortunately brief 30-minute set, launching her set with the action packed fast paced single “Diane,” which was very much enjoyed by the fans as they danced and sang along.

Smith’s arrival to the stage was him rising to the stage upon a chair, and with the lighting only showing his silhouette, making for a unique but a rather vibe debut to the stage to his song “Burning.” Then becoming lit up for “One Last Song” before the crowd joined in for a massive sing-a-long during “I’m Not The Only One.” The smile did not leave Smith’s face throughout his entire performance and it showed he is truly happy doing what he is doing and how appreciative he is of his loyal fans who continue to come back and see him each and every time. The near-capacity crowd at the Wells Fargo Center was pleased on July 4th with an incredible evening of songs, while fireworks exploded upon the skies outside, fans were filled inside of the arena listening to the angelic voice of Sam Smith. Smith is touring in support of his latest studio album, The Thrill Of It All. Before Smith’s entrance to the stage, he had a collection of handwritten quotes regarding love, equality, and more were showcased on the Wells Fargo Center screens.
Sam Smith’s stage setup was incredible, it included a massive triangular catwalk and backdrop with a circle reigning around the triangle, however the production was very no-frills, meaning no pyro, Co2, or any sort of special production but that was needed as Sam Smith shined vibrantly himself with his backing band, background vocalists and his setlist of hit songs. Smith allows his music to speak for itself without the assistance of any big elaborate productions and it works rather well for him. Smith brought along friend and country-star CAM for an incredible evening of music, love, equality, and self-appreciation. Sam Smith brought his highly successful ‘Thrill Of It All’ World Tour to Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center on July 4th to celebrate not only independence day but also love and equality.
